Our Learning Communities:
The Groves

Students begin each session in their academic pods, which we lovingly call Groves. Each Grove is a small learning community based on age and developmental stage. This allows us to offer intentional instruction in math and literacy, while still gathering as a full group for project-based themes, play, and community time.
Each Grove has its own rhythm and character, but all are rooted in the same values of curiosity, growth, and joyful learning.
Seedling Grove
Our youngest learners in the 1st and 2nd Grades, begin in the Seedling Grove. This Grove centers on playful, project-based, and collaborative learning to develop core academic knowledge and social-emotional skills.
While emerging as leaders, students in the Seedling Grove continue to strengthen their skills in fundamental core subjects such as reading, writing, and math.
This Grove introduces concepts such as critical and creative thinking, social responsibility, and good citizenship.

Sapling Grove
In the Sapling Grove our 3rd and 4th
grade students begin stretching their thinking, refining their communication, and applying knowledge in more complex ways. With stronger academic stamina and social awareness, Sapling learners explore writing, problem solving, creative thinking, and leadership through group projects and skill-building workshops.
This Grove encourages students to build resilience, take initiative, demonstrate leadership, and use their voices with confidence as they prepare for the next stage of their educational journey.
Evergreen Grove
Our 5th and 6th grade students make up the Evergreen Grove. Here, core learning such as reading and writing are met with greater complexity and math concepts are more advanced. Our Evergreen Grove students begin managing new situations, working more independently, actively leading others, and positively navigating social situations. These learners are challenged with real-world concepts through independent and group projects.
This Grove focuses on guiding students in the areas of organization, independence, critical thinking, and social-emotional awareness.
